Driver's in St. Landry Parish can continue using the Melville Ferry, but only for a little while longer.
The ferry was scheduled to close for good Saturday, October 9, but the date has been pushed back until the end of the soybean harvest at the end of the year---December 31st.
That's to help farmers move their equipment across the Atchafalaya River.
The ferry will close down because of budget problems.
