As Louisiana families transition from their FEMA temporary housing unit (THU) to a permanent, long term home, FEMA has an updated telephone number to assist these residents who need to have their unit deactivated.
Call 1-225-389-5732.
This telephone number is for FEMA temporary housing unit deactivation requests in Louisiana associated with Hurricanes Katrina, Rita, Gustav or Ike.
By calling this number, THU residents can schedule a move out inspection - the first step in deactivating their FEMA unit - taking them one step closer to recovery and a place to call home.
Louisiana families displaced by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita once occupied more than 92,000 FEMA units in the state, and now, about 1,500 remain. An additional 649 households reside in Gustav/Ike temporary housing.
