LAFAYETTE, La. (AP) - A $4.8 million federal Recovery Act grant is expected to help area Louisiana Technical College campuses increase the local work force.
The grant award totals nearly $4.9 million and will affect more than 700 students across the LTC Greater Acadiana region's campuses in the seven-parish area.
Annette Faulk, an associate dean for the LTC Greater Acadiana region, tells The Advocate the funds will be used to create new programs and buy new "green" equipment to support the region's "green" training programs.
The three-year grant will enable the creation of a new training program in the area of warehouse distribution.
Faulk said the injection of funding will also help the colleges maintain programs that may have suffered because of recent budget cuts.
