DOYLINE, La. (AP) Authorities say a 46-year-old Lafayette man killed his 72-year-old father and then traveled to Webster Parish where he turned the gun on himself.
Authorities found Timothy Rogers on Monday dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the temple.
His body was discovered about 150 yards off La. Highway 163 in the village of Doyline.
Deputies say Rogers shot his father, Tommy Rogers, in the back of the head at the man's Lafayette home early Monday morning.
Lt. Craig Stansbury, spokesman for the Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office, tells The Advocate that Rogers was living with his father and was on house arrest with an ankle bracelet.
Stansbury said that Rogers cut off the bracelet before fleeing Lafayette Parish on Monday.
