NEW ORLEANS (AP) Lundi Gras, or Fat Monday, was once a day to rest up for the final day of Carnival. No more.

Plenty of sunshine greeted revelers on Monday, and despite chilly temperatures and a brisk wind, festivities continued.

Three parades were scheduled for the area, including Orpheus, the giant parade founded by Harry Connick Jr.

New Orleans Saints coach Sean Payton will be among the parades 1,200 riders. He follows his quarterback, Drew Brees, on the parade route. Brees road on Bacchus Sunday night.

Also on Orpheus will be Steve Zahn, Taylor Dayne, Smash Mouth, The Imagination Movers and Big Bad Voodoo Daddy.

Festivities end Tuesday at midnight as police close down Bourbon Street and Lent begins.
