The Lafayette Farmers and Artisans Market at the Horse Farm celebrated its first birthday today. The celebration was during regular Market hours, 8 a.m.-noon. Customers were able to sample birthday cakes from a number of the Market's artisanal bakers and vote on the best-decorated birthday booth. All were invited to join in on the fun and commemorate the first of many Market years to remember!
After the markets alotted hours the birthday celebration continued with an after party across Johnston Street on Bertrand Drive at the "Better Block" project.
With Central Park plans finalized, some are worried about what will happen with the Farmers Market. Park officials assured KATC that the market will continue weekly as planned. "We might have to move the market around a bit with construction going on, but we will make sure to have it every week. It is obviously an event that everyone loves having," Elizabeth Brook Director of Planning and Design for Lafayette Central Park.
The Lafayette Farmers and Artisans Market at The Horse Farm serves as a premier venue for seasonal farm-based products and specialized professional creations. The Market offers local producers, artists and vendors a celebratory atmosphere of community, enrichment and entrepreneurship. Something created through the mutual support of its members and patrons that's difficult to locate anywhere else.
The Market is open every Saturday, rain or shine, from 8 a.m.-12 p.m. year-round, and every Wednesday in June and July from 4-7 p.m.
