Sheriff's deputies continue the search for a missing hunter in St Mary Parish. Relatives say 58-year-old Lynn Landry went hunting at his camp near Beehive Shoot in the Atchafalaya Basin Tuesday and didn't return when expected.
Now Landry's family are searching for him around the clock. By day search efforts are conducted on foot and by boat, and at night by helicopter with infrared cameras.
Residents at a nearby camp told the family they did see Landry in a pirogue on Tuesday, asked him if he was ok, and say he said yes and continuedd paddling. But now it's unclear what happened to Landry; his family believes he may be on foot somewhere in the area.
His older brother, John Landry, said they believe he was last seen wearing a blue shirt, and all they want is to have their loved one home safe for Christmas.
"If anyone sees anything. He was in a pirogue, if anyone sees a pirogue, a paddle, a piece of clothing, anything that would narrow the search and lead us to a recovery," said John Landry.
The St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office, along with the Iberia Parish Sheriff's Office, Department of Wildlife and Fisheries and the U.S. Coast Guard are all assisting in the search. Anyone with any information on Landry's where-abouts is asked to call the St. Mary Sheriff's Office at 337-828-1960.
