NEW ORLEANS (AP) - The family of a young Jefferson Parish girl
killed 18 months ago by stray gunfire plans to mark her birthday
this weekend with a gathering at the mausoleum where she was laid
Paige DeJean would have turned 9 on Saturday. The Times-Picayune
reports that the family will mark the occasion with a cake and
candles and a release of balloons.
Two men, both age 22, are awaiting trial in Paige's death. She
was killed when shots tore into her River Ridge apartment.
Authorities have said the men were shooting at a group of
neighborhood rivals when Paige was hit.
