Family of 10 Loses Everything but Their Lives

On Saturday, June 7, just after 4:30 p.m. Lafayette police and multiple area fire departments responded to a residential fire in the 2800 block of South Fieldspan Road.

At the time of the blaze, 6 of the 10 residents were inside the home, and managed to escape. Fortunately, there were minor injuries to report. The flames and heavy smoke caused Louisiana State Police to block of South Fieldspan Road from Golden Grain Road to Duhon Road.

Once the responding firefighters extinguished the heavy flames it was determined the house was a total loss.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

The family has set up an online gofundme account to help generate support for their basic needs.

They're currently accepting clothing donations at Lafayette's First Greater Apostolic Church, 717 Duhon Road in Lafayette.

Clothes: 18 months, 3-4T, 6-7 And Diapers size 5
