After moving back to Louisiana, the Saucier family found there was a need for their daughter who suffers from Down Syndrome.
Sandra Saucier and her husband created 'Brittanys Project', a non-for profit which they say, " enrich the lives of individuals with disabilities through a fun, safe, compassionate, nurturing and supportive environment."
The Sauciers didn't see a place in St. Mary Parish for their daughter to interact with other students.
"The facility that we're wanting to build is going to provide that part of their lives... the recreational, the support, and the social aspect of what their needing," says Sandra Saucier.
The family now owns the former Oaklawn Sugar Mill, in Franklin, where they have donated several acres to build the recreational facility.
The Brittany Project will hold their 2nd annual car show fundraiser, tickets are $5 per car, starting at 9am. For more information visit www.brittanysproject.org
