ALEXANDRIA, La. (AP) - The Rapides Parish Housing Authority in Boyce will receive $99,117 to issue housing vouchers to 25 more homeless military veterans and their families.
The extra housing voucher funding comes from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development's Supporting Housing Program.
The announcement of additional money for housing vouchers coincides with a Department of Veterans Affairs report that estimates the number of homeless veterans in the United States is falling because more resources are addressing the problem.
The Housing Authority in Boyce already issues vouchers to 50 veterans, a number that will jump to 75.
