WEST MONROE, La. (AP) - A former employee of the West Monroe
City Marshal's Office has been accused of embezzling nearly $42,000
from the agency.
The News-Star reports that 31-year-old Kelly R. Johnson, of West
Monroe, was booked Friday with felony theft, malfeasance and
maintaining false public records.
Johnson worked as a clerk for the marshal's office until
January. Chief marshal's deputy Joel Dyke says the alleged theft
came from court fines.
Johnson could not be reached for comment by telephone Saturday.
