GREENSBURG, La. (AP) - The former president of the St. Helena Parish Police Jury has dropped his request that the parish return to him more than $100,000 in back pay that piled up after he waived his parish wages from 2005 to 2012.

Frank Johnson, who was defeated last fall in his bid for re-election, voluntarily relinquished his $1,200 monthly salary beginning May 1, 2005.

When he requested last month that seven years worth of wages be paid to him in a lump sum, officials say the parish determined that the total amount would be $115,150.

When reached by phone, The Advocate reports Johnson refused to comment on why he withdrew the request for his back pay, saying it was his "personal business."
