BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - A 41-year-old former employee of the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office has been arrested for eight counts of unauthorized entry of an inhabited dwelling and interception and disclosure of wire, electronic or oral communications.

David Pizzolato Jr., who worked for the sheriff's office for the past 16 years, was booked Wednesday into the parish jail. Authorities say Pizzolato allegedly entered his ex-girlfriend's home and hid a recording device above the headboard of her bed in early January. The victim contacted the sheriff's office on Feb. 17 to file a complaint, but did not want to press charges or for the accused to lose his job.

Pizzolato notified his supervisor the same day, admitting to placing the device to monitor the treatment of their child.
