A former adviser to four presidents will address graduates at Loyola University New Orleans' spring commencement.
David Gergen, director of the Harvard Kennedy School's Center for Public Leadership, will receive an honorary degree along with former New Orleans Saints player and ALS advocate Steve Gleason.
Gergen joined the Nixon White House in 1971 and later worked in President Gerald Ford's administration. He was an adviser to the 1980 George H.W. Bush presidential campaign and served as director of communications for President Ronald Reagan. He also served as adviser to President Bill Clinton on domestic and foreign affairs.
Loyola's College of Law commencement speaker will be Carl E. Stewart, alumnus and chief judge of the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.
Both ceremonies are scheduled Saturday, May 10, at the Superdome.
