BATON ROUGE, La. - Officials say a former state legislative leader who joined the state Department of Education is leaving the agency.
Don Trahan, former chairman of the Louisiana House Education Committee, was hired in 2008 at $110,000 per year to spread the department's message to business leaders and others.
But state Superintendent of Education Paul Pastorek's
reorganization of the agency has left Trahan out of a job effective Oct. 1.
Pastorek says that his revamping of the department
has meant the elimination of some management jobs, including
Trahan's.
In an e-mail on Tuesday, Trahan declined a request for comment and referred questions to the Education Department's communications office.
