Ex-boyfriend accused of breaking into woman's house

An ex-boyfriend is accused of kicking his ex-girlfriend's door down then beating her bed with a bat where she and a three-year-old child were lying. "After grabbing the victim by the hair and pulling her onto the floor, West grabbed the victim's purse and fled before deputies arrived," Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office spokesperson Kim Myers said.

He broke into the house on Wednesday and was arrested the next day at his home. John C. West, 42, of Sulphur, is charged with home invasion, domestic abuse battery with child endangerment, criminal damage to property and theft under $500. Judge David Ritchie set his bond at $120,000.
