There are still 50 or more roads that are impassable in Evangeline Parish. There is public infrastructure damage to schools and portion of a hospital. Evangeline Parish has conducted several rescues due to the high water. More rain is expected for the area, therefore an estimate of damage can not be made until the rain stops
If you are a home OWNER or business OWNER, and have experienced damage to your home or business, please contact the Police Jury at 363-5651 or 363-5654, during normal business hours, or you can email GOHSEP(Government of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness) office at firstname.lastname@example.org. The parish is trying to gather as much information as possible. You will need to give your name, 911 address and phone number. A good tip from GOHSEP is to use a measuring tape or stick to show the inches or feet of damage. Follow them on Facebook by clicking http://www.facebook.com/evangelineparish911oep?fref=ts
Mamou Elementary experienced flood damage yesterday and the 1st and 2nd graders lost most of their school supplies. The students are in need of folders, notebooks, crayons, glue, etc. Any donations will help. Contact Sheila Aymond, or drop off supplies at school on Monday morning. 468-3123.
