Evangeline Downs could soon be adding another betting parlor for race enthusiasts.

Carrol Castille owner of the old race track in Carencro says the land is still on the market, there are no interested buyers at this point. Castille says in the meantime until the right buyer comes, the land is being used as a multi-use piece of property. The old race track will host a charity rodeo later this month that will benefit Saint Judes and Shriners.

Other big events in the works include a car show in October and a roping event on Easter weekend.

In Saint Martinville, they're looking into opening a new off track betting location that will look similar to the one in Eunice.

The city of Saint Martinville is in the final stages of the deal with Evangeline Downs. Wal-Mart donated the building to the city earlier this year. Since then, the city has been weighing its options on what's next for the six and a half acre space.

There will be a council meeting Monday night in Saint Martinville to iron out plans and finalize contract negotiations with the city, of course we'll keep you updated.

Remember, I'm always waiting to hear from you. If you're working on a project that you would like profiled or want to know about construction going on in your area send me an email or give me a call.
