VILLE PLATTE, La. (AP) - The Evangeline Parish School Board has
approved extending the contract of Superintendent Toni Hamlin for
another two years.
Hamlin said her goal is to achieve a
unitary status designation from the federal courts by June 2012 in
connection with the 45-year-old desegregation case.
Unitary status means the federal court would no longer have
oversight of the school district.
