A Eunice policeman has resigned to run for chief of police. Officer A.J. Frank's resignation was effective Sunday, May 30.

He plans to run for chief in the October primary election.

Frank could not remain an officer and seek the elected position under Civil Service regulations.

Gary Fontenot, the current chief, is not seeking re-election for the position.

Qualifying for the chief of police race is the first week of July.
