Eunice police arrested and charged a husband and wife on drug-related charges. Police started investigating in January after receiving complaints about drug sales at Sidney Brown's home at 138 East Ardoin Street, according to Deputy Chief Varden Guillory Sr. "Electronic surveillance was used to capture drug transactions over the phone for purchases of prescription drugs such as Lortabs and Zanax. The actual sales were then captured by audio and video as informants made controlled purchases of narcotics from 56-year-old Sidney Brown," said Guillory. During the search, officers said they located marijuana and drug paraphernalia from several rooms in the house.
Brown's wife, Valene Brown, 53, arrived during his arrest and was arrested after police said they found two bags of marijuana in her purse and a medicine bottle containing more narcotics and rolling papers.
Sidney Brown was booked at Eunice PD then transferred to the St Landry Parish Jail where he was scheduled for a court appearance from a previous distribution arrest by St Landry Parish Narcotics, his bond is unknown. The following day Valene appeared at line up and bond was set at $10,000. Valene then bonded out on Friday April 20, 2012 from the Eunice City Jail.
Valene is charged with Possession of Marijuana, Possession of drug Paraphernalia, Violation of the Uniform CDS Law and Resisting An Officer. Brown is charged with Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Violation of the Uniform CDS Law (2 counts), Distribution of Schedule 3 Narcotics (lortabs), and Possession with Intent to Distribute Schedule 4 Narcotics (Zanax).
