A Eunice man is accused of walking out of Walmart three times without paying for thousands of dollars of merchandise. Eunice police started investigating after an employee witnessed Calvin LeGros leaving the garden area with a shopping cart full of goods, Deputy Chief Varden Guillory, Sr. said. LeGros is accused of stealing wrench sets, pliers, car audio speakers, car batteries, battery chargers, and beer, totaling $2172.81.
The employee provided police with a license plate number. Police tracked down the merchandise inside LeGros' vehicle and inside a shed at 1106 East Ardoin Street in Acadia Parish. "Video surveillance from Wal Mart was then reviewed by officers and Walmart employees. It was then determined that the suspect, Calvin LeGros Jr. stole merchandise from Wal Mart on February 13, 14, and on the 16th in the same manner," Guillory said.
LeGros is charged with two counts of misdemeanor theft by shoplifting and one felony count of theft by shoplifting.
