January 6, 2010 1634 hours A Deputy Eunice City Marshal observed a silver colored vehicle operated by Michael Ray Thomas, East bound on US 190 at it's intersection with La 13 in the City of Eunice. Michael Thomas had an outstanding warrant issued by Eunice City Court for failing to pay a fine in the amount of $110.00. The deputy then attempted to catch up to the vehicle and conduct a traffic stop. The vehicle then turned north on St. George Str. dropped off an unknown passenger, then accelerated north turning west bound on to E. Magnolia Str. The vehicle then traveled to La 13, turning northbound and traveling at speeds in excess of the posted speed limit while weaving through traffic attempting to elude the pursuing deputy. With the pursuit traveling north on La 13, Eunice City Marshal's Office notified local agencies; Eunice Police Department, Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Office, Mamou Police Department and Louisiana State Police. The pursuit continued north bound with the vehicle continuing to weave through traffic, and passing traffic on the right shoulder of the road. The pursuit continued until, the vehicle slowed and came to a stop at the intersection of Transco Dr. and La 13. The driver Michael Thomas was then taken into custody without incident. The front seat passenger, Archillus Hebert was detained, and upon search a green vegetable material, believed to be Marijuana was recovered from Herbert's person. Agencies involved in the pursuit were Eunice City Marshal's Office, Eunice Police Department, and Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Office. Mamou Police Department also arrived and assisted in the booking of both subjects.
Charged in the incident are; Michael Thomas 22 years of age 418 S. Bulah St. Eunice, LA.

Simple Possession of Marijuana
Both arrested subjects have Custody Detainers placed on them by Louisiana Department of Corrections Probation and Parole.
