A woman escaped from the Youngsville Police Department while being booked this afternoon, forcing Green T. Lindon and Youngsville Middle schools to be placed on lockdown.
The lockdown was suggested by Lafayette Sheriff's Office deputies.
Initial reports say that a female who had been picked up on open warrants was being held at the Youngsville Police Station for processing prior to transport to the parish jail ran out the station, which is in the immediate vicinity of the two schools.
LPSO Capt. Kip Judice says Ashley Perkins, 25 is being sought by Youngsville Police and Sheriff's deputies. Judice says the warrants Perkins was being picked up on were for non-violent crimes.
