Escaped Murder Suspect Caught in Youngsville

The Broussard and Youngsville Police Departments have arrested a murder suspect who escaped custody last night in Broussard. Officials say Ruben Van Dyke was spotted by a civilian walking down Ambassador Caffery near the Youngsville Highway around 7:30 this morning. Officials arrived on the scene shortly afterward and made the arrest. Van Dyke is being held in the Lafayette Parish Correctional Facility and is awaiting extradition to Baton Rouge.
