An escaped inmate from Vermilion Parish Jail turned himself into authorities today.
According to Sheriff Mike Couvillon, shortly after 11 a.m., Christopher J. Dyson Sr. turned himself in to authorities after walking off a work detail at the Vermilion Parish Jail on November 30, 2013. Deputies said Dyson scaled a fenced while working in the laundry room as a trusty. Dyson is in jail on drug charges with a $10,000 bond.
According to Sheriff Couvillon, improvements are already underway at the parish jail to secure the fencing perimeter.
Sheriff Couvillon added, a review will be completed to include the charges of simple escape and burglary.
