Escaped inmate Brian Keith Soileau is in serious condition in an Oklahoma hospital. Earlier today, Oklahoma authorities caught Soileau in Murray County Oklahoma, after the United States Marshal Service Metro Fugitive Task Force received information that Soileau was at a Wal-Mart in Norman, Oklahoma. "As they were arriving, they spotted Soileau leaving the parking lot and attempted to pull him over. Soileau fled from authorities and was eventually taken into custody, by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol and the Metro Fugitive Task Force, after a vehicle pursuit and foot chase. Soileau was taken to a hospital after receiving injuries during an exchange of gunfire with law enforcement," Trooper Stephen Hammons said.
More than 15 different law enforcement agencies and over 100 law enforcement officers assisted the Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Office with the search for Soileau in Evangeline Parish. "The apprehension of Brian Keith Soileau is credited to all of the involved law enforcement agencies working together and sharing information to locate Soileau," said Captain Becket Breaux, Troop I Commander. "We understand that agency partnerships are a must in order to keep our communities safe, and we will continue to provide assistance in any way that we can."
The agencies that assisted the Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Office were the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, the Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Posse, Angola Chase Team, Louisiana State Police Troops I, D, and E, as well as Louisiana State Police Region 2 detectives, Louisiana State Police Air Support, United States Marshal Service Violent Offender Task Force for the Western District of Louisiana, Port Barre Police Department, St. Landry Sheriff's Office, Eunice Police Department, Allan Correctional Center, Pine Prairie Police Department, and the Opelousas Police Department.
