25-year old Matthew Keyes had just been sentenced to more than 20 years in prison and then he escaped Thursday evening.
The search began in Lafayette where Keyes jumped out of the prison transport vehicle.
However, Keyes was captured Friday morning in Evangeline Parish.
It all started in Pine Prarie when the assistant chief of police there says he tried to stop Keyes because of speeding.
Keyes got away and was heading to Turkey Creek.
Keyes was going more than 130 miles per hour on Highway 167.
Detectives ran the license plate of the vehicle Keyes was driving and realized it was stolen.
The chief of police in Turkey Creek was warned Keyes was driving his way.
When the chief spotted Keyes, he was able to crash into the stolen vehicle so Keyes could loose control.
Before the chief was about to slam into the vehicle again, he says keyes gave up on I-49 near Mile Marker 56.
