Ernesto Becomes a Hurricane

Ernesto has become a category one hurricane. Hurricane hunters observed that winds are sustained at 80mph and the minimum central pressure is 983mb. A westward to west-north-west track should continue over the next several days. Ernesto is still forecast to move across the Bay of Campeche before once making landfall in Mexico sometime Friday. Models continue to agree forecast track should stay well south of Acadiana. You can always search the latest tropical information on KATC's Hurricane Center Page on katc.com.
Weatherwise, expecting a typical summer pattern this week. Hot and humid days with isolated to scattered showers/storms possible. Local rain chances should stay around the 30-40% range each day this week. Try to keep cool!
