NEW IBERIA, La.- Envision da Berry will present a Showtunes Sing-along evening, hosted at Clementine's restaurant, downtown on March 23, 2013, and featuring pianist, Shane Courville. Guests will be encouraged to participate in this celebration of Broadway theatre by requesting and singing their favorite song(s) of choice. The entry is free and all proceeds collected throughout the evening will support Envision da Berry's ongoing community support projects.
The inspiration for the upcoming event was taken from Marie's Crisis Café-a historic piano
bar located in New York City's Greenwich Village. This popular dive plays host to many of
Broadway's musical theater performers who gather nightly to the stools surrounding the
piano and sing their favorite solos. While an up-front-and-personal seat to the shows they
are cast within are costly, visitors to Marie's Crisis are merely asked to contribute to the
bar's roaming tip jar in exchange for a never-ending evening of intimate performances.
Envision da Berry will ask the same of the guests attending the Showtunes Sing Along this month.
Pianist, Shane Courville, is a trained musician and music educator at Pride College Prep in New Orleans. New Iberia Citizen of the Year and Envision da Berry Creative Director, Phanat Xanaman, is responsible for production of this event, co-organized by Chay Guillory, accomplished musician and music education major at South Louisiana Community College.
