NEW ORLEANS (AP) - Power provider Entergy Corp. said it will provide 10,000 free trees to its residential customers in Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas and Mississippi.
Entergy says the plan is part of the Arbor Day Foundation's program aimed at conserving energy through strategic tree planting, which provides shade.
In return for the trees, customers must agree to plant them in a location that will reduce their energy consumption, and they must care for them. The trees, which will be 2 to 4 feet tall, will be delivered in the fall.
Entergy has 2.7 million power customers in Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi and Texas.
