LAFAYETTE, La. (AP) Preliminary first-day-of-school counts show enrollment is up in Lafayette Parish schools.
The district reported that 25,008 students in grades 1-12 attended the first day of school Thursday. The Advocate reports the tally is up from last year's first-day count of 24,687 students.
Those numbers are expected to grow as students continue to register with the system and with the start of Pre-K and kindergarten classes next week.
