LAFAYETTE - The Louisiana Workforce Commission is co-sponsoring a half-day seminar Tuesday, June 18, to highlight a range of workforce programs designed to assist employers.
The seminar will be held from 8:30 a.m. to noon at the South Louisiana Community College, 320 Devalcourt St., Lafayette.
Topics to be covered include an introduction of services offered by the Lafayette Economic Development Authority, the Small and Emerging Business Center and Louisiana Economic Development's Fast Start Program. Businesses will learn how to secure training grants and effectively fill positions to save advertising dollars. Training providers will also be on hand to answer questions.
LWC Incumbent Worker Training Program Director Kevin Joyce will discuss how businesses can apply for training funds to enhance their employees' skills
through a customized training program that is designed by the employer.
Lafayette Workforce Investment Board Director Glenn Dugas will discuss available services at LWC's Business and Career Solution Centers, such as
on the job training programs that offer employers a reimbursement of up to 50 percent of qualified employees' wages for up to 12 months.
Human resource professionals and small business owners are encouraged to attend this no-cost seminar. Registration is required and can be completed at workforceseminar.eventbrite.com.
