LEESVILLE, La. (AP) - An 88-year-old Leesville man died when he was hit by an SUV on La. Highway 121 in Vernon Parish, but his body wasn't discovered for a few hours.
State Police responded to the accident around 8 a.m. Tuesday. The pedestrian, identified as Eddard L. Morrison, was dead when he was found, but troopers say Morrison was hit around 5:30 a.m.
The driver of an SUV, 78-year-old Gloria P. Toney, also of Leesville, wasn't aware that she had hit a pedestrian and did not stop.
Investigators say Toney was southbound when she hit Morrison, who either was lying or sitting on the edge of the southbound lane.
