An elderly Evangeline Parish man is facing charges after officials say he was making moonshine in his home. Investigators with the Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Office and Alcohol Tobacco Control conducted a search warrant at 3007 Hill Top Lane in the area of Johnson Landing, north of Turkey Creek. Deputies say they found 174 bottles of homemade moonshine and wine. In addition to the alcohol, deputies say they found a still and narcotics. 73-year-old Sidney Dale Johnson was charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute a Schedule III (Lortab/Hydrocodone), Possession of Schedule I (Marijuana), Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Illegal Carrying of Weapons, Transactions Involving Proceeds from Drug Offenses and Distribution of Schedule III (Hydrocodone/Lortab). 200 counts of manufacturing homemade moonshine and wine are currently pending.
