BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - Two Baton Rouge bookstores are readying for a surge of visitors this weekend, when former Gov. Edwin Edwards begins a statewide tour to support his biography.
The Barnes & Noble locations are expecting hundreds of people to show up on Saturday and Sunday for the book signings, among the first public appearances to be made by the four-time former governor.
Abby Hannie, community relations manager for the bookseller in Baton Rouge, says the two stores will hand out wristbands hours before Edwards begins signing books at 2 p.m. each day. Hannie says the stores will try to accommodate anyone who gets a wristband and wants to wait to have the biography signed by Edwards and author Leo Honeycutt.
