Education documentary to be shown free in La.

METAIRIE, La. (AP) - A documentary narrated by actor Matt Damon that addresses problems facing the nation's public education system is being shown free of charge in Metairie, La.
The film, "American Teacher," is being circulated among education officials nationwide. On Monday, a free screening is being offered in Louisiana to raise awareness about the low wages and long hours that drive many out of the teaching profession.
The film will be shown at the United Association Business Office in Metairie at 10 a.m. on Monday.
Former teacher and author Daniel Moulthrop will introduce the film and answer questions. Representatives from the United Way of Southeastern Louisiana, the Jefferson Federation of Teachers and the United Teachers of New Orleans will also be on hand. The three organizations are sponsoring the screening.
