The Valentine's Day celebrations are well underway!
Places like Edible Arrangements and businesses all over Acadiana are expected to be busy today as shoppers buy those last minute gifts. We spoke with the staff there and they say it takes a lot of work to prepare for this holiday.
Behind all the chocolate, fruit and balloons, staff at Edible Arrangements in Lafayette have been preparing for months.
"Valentine's Day is one of Edible Arrangements biggest holidays, we go on last years consumers trend of what people liked," said Store Owner Pallavi Simon.
This week the store has received more than 950 orders and counting but store owner Pallavi Simon says the valentines day arrangement is a favorite this year.
"Pineapple hearts and fresh strawberries are going to be dipped in chocolate and that arrangement comes in like three different sizes," said Pallavi.
All month, the staff used strategic marketing plans getting people to order ahead of time instead of waiting till Valentines Day.
"Just offered like free deliveries and the early bird specials," said Pallavi.
Customers like Jared Lewis took advantage of those deals.
"I wanted to so something different because every year I do flowers or candy so I wanted to do something totally different for my wife," said Lewis.
Even though its been a chaotic week for the store, Simon says her staff is amazing and it's all worth it.
"We work to 1,2 or 4 o'clock in the morning," said Pallavai. "We have to get it done, that's my goal, getting it done."
If you're still without a Valentine's Day gift, card or idea, you still have a little time. Get the creative juices flowing before it gets to late. Happy Valentines Day Acadiana!
