Thousands are expected in Lafayette this week for the LHSAA Top 28 Tournament, and basketball fans aren't the only ones excited for the tournament.

"The business picks up, everybody comes on in to eat great Cajun food and we show a lot of people how to peel (crawfish)," said Dawn Landry, co-owner of Don's Seafood Hut.

Out of town visitors are expected to inject millions into the local economy over the next week, spending money on things from food to accommodations.

"We're sold out today and we're looking forward to being sold out this weekend," said Cindy Breaux, general manager of the Hilton Garden Inn, which is directly across from the CajunDome.

With the CajunDome, restaurants and hotels, Gerald Breaux with the Lafayette Convention and Visitors Center says the tournament was meant for the hub city, which has yet to feel the full impact of the Top 28.

"As the tournament gets closer and closer to the weekend, it seems like you have more community support, (people) following their teams, so this Friday and Saturday should be outstanding," Breaux said.
