Now in it's 10th year, "Eat Lafayette" is off and running once again to showcase some of the best food the city has to offer. From burgers and hot dogs to indulging your sweet tooth, Twins Burgers and Sweets is just one of 83 participating restaurants in this years "Eat Lafayette" campaign. Co-owner Billy Guilbeaux says it's an honor just to be involved--especially during the summer months
"Well it's great, especially during the summertime when a lot of people are leaving town. It really helps out because it's what helps keep us going."
The food showcased in Lafayette is a big reason visitors keep coming back for more.
"Everyone who comes to town from other cities, the ESPN guys broadcasting the UL games, all they talked about was the food and how good the food is around Lafayette," Guilbeaux said.
"All of the awards we've got, Tastiest Town of the South, Best Food City in the US; that wouldn't be possible without our locally owned restaurants," Executive Director of the Lafayette Convention and Visitors Commission Ben Berthelot said.
Berthelot says it's a record breaking year for participation and encourages Acadiana to get out and eat up!
"Food is such an important part of our brand. Anything that we can do to help our product, which is our locally owned restaurants to be successful, that's what we want to do and that's what eat Lafayette is all about it's a way for people to really support our locally owned restaurants.
