East Feliciana crash claims 7th victim

CLINTON, La. (AP) - A two-vehicle accident in East Feliciana Parish on May 30 has claimed its seventh victim.

Trooper Evan Harrell says 13-year-old Rogerick Johnson Jr. died Sunday at the Children's Hospital in New Orleans.

Johnson is one of seven people to die after a Greensburg man accused of drunken driving crashed his pickup into a car on La. Highway 67 near Slaughter.

The pickup driver, 30-year-old Brett Gerald, suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

District Attorney Sam D'Aquilla says charges against Gerald will be upgraded at a hearing Tuesday. He currently faces six counts of vehicular homicide. D'Aquilla said he will request that bail be denied for Gerald.

State police say Gerald's blood-alcohol content was 0.15 percent on May 30. In Louisiana, a blood-alcohol content of 0.08 is considered presumptive evidence of drunken driving.
