BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - The East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office plans to move its headquarters from downtown to a former state office building in the southwest corner of Metro Airport.

The Advocate
reports the airport's Board of Commissioners unanimously authorized the mayor and the airport to enter into a five-year agreement Tuesday with two five-year options with the sheriff's office.

It would put parish law enforcement in a 20,000-square-foot office building vacated by the state Department of Transportation and Development in October.

The lease would be for $274,636 per year, $160,000 in cash and $114,636 in in-kind services, which Jason Wilson, the airport administrative and development manager, described as land and canal clearing and other services.
