Earthquake hits Los Angeles

An earthquake shook Los Angeles early this morning.

According to the United States Geological Survey, a magnitude 4.4 tremor struck nine kilometers--or approximately 5.6 miles--north-northwest of Westwood at 6:25 a.m. local time.

The earthquake, which occured at a depth of five miles, was initially reported as having a magnitude of 4.7.

The Associated Press reports that the Los Angeles Fire Department has not received any immediate reports of damage.
