Earth Day at Prairie Elementary

Louisiana Lunch Money is celebrating Earth Day this year with a Green Event at Prairie Elementary by hosting a planting event with the 4-H Club on Monday.

Kohls Cares is generously supporting the event with a $1,500 donation and several volunteers. The Future Farmers of America (FFA) at Comeaux High is graciously donating all the plants for the event.

The event kicked off with the 4-H Club planting. Donated fruit and vegetable plants were planted in take home containers recycled from the school cafeteria. Students in the 4-H Club were able to take the plants home for a container gardening project. The students worked to beautify the campus at Prairie by weeding, planting and landscaping around the school.

Louisiana Lunch Money will receive $1,000 and the remaining $500 will be donated to the Prairie Elementary 4-H Club.

Special thanks to Kohl's Cares and the Future Farmers of America for supporting this event.
