BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - Secretary of State Tom Schedler is encouraging all Louisianans eligible to vote in the April 6 primary election to consider voting early.

Early voting begins Saturday at the parish Registrar of Voters' Office and continues through March 30 from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily, excluding Good Friday and Easter Sunday.

Schedler says the early voting period is the best chance to cast a ballot if a voter anticipates being busy or out of town.

Thirty-eight parishes are holding elections April 6, including Acadia, Allen, Ascension, Beauregard, Bienville, Bossier, Caddo, Calcasieu, Catahoula, East Baton Rouge, East Feliciana, Evangeline, Grant, Iberia, Jefferson, Jefferson Davis, LaSalle, Morehouse, Natchitoches, Orleans, Ouachita, Rapides, Sabine, St. Bernard, St. Charles, St. Helena, St. James, St. Landry, St. Tammany, Vermillion, Vernon, Washington, Webster and West Baton Rouge.
