Early Morning Crash Leaves One Dead

One person is dead after a single vehicle crash in Evangeline Parish.
It all happened around 4:00 Sunday morning. Troopers say, seventeen year old Jeannine Shafer of Ville Platte was traveling on LA 106 when she lost control of her car. For unknown reasons, Shafer crossed the center line entering a ditch, striking a canal, and the car started flipping. She was ejected from the vehicle and was not wearing her seatbelt.
Shafer was pronounced dead at the scene and was the only person in the vehicle.
