School leaders are asking State Representative Ricky Hardy to reconsider giving the "OK" for lafayette schools to receive ~$746,000.
School board member Mike Hefner says Hardy wanted more than just a phone call.
"Even though they have been approved by the Department of Education approved by the Legislative Budget Office we have to go kiss his ring."
"You don't have to kiss the ring all you have to do is call," responds Hardy.
Hardy says the lack of communication from school board members, to him, translates into a lack of respect for him and his position.
Hefner says that's not the case, "when you treat the school system and interfere with it constantly and carry over vendetta from when you were a board member into your position it's kinda hard to gain that respect."
To which hardy responds,"well you can put the show on the other feet and thats why they didn't get the 746 thousand dollars"
Hefner, along with the rest of the school board remains optimistic that a resolution will be reached.
The bill is going to get calendared for reconsideration at the December meeting with the committee.
Hardy says the lines of communication need to be open first.
If not Hardy says it will be a "bad situation."
