CLINTON, La. (AP) - The East Feliciana Parish Police Jury has approved pay raises of 50 cents an hour for its 23 employees that will cost the parish about $24,000.
The jury's Personnel and Finance committees proposed the cost-of-living raises Tuesday, while taking no action regarding merit raises for key personnel.
The parish also received about $186,000 in a severance tax check from its share of oil, gas and timber sales. The jury then voted to move the sum from the general fund into the road and bridge fund.
Parish financial adviser Phil Graham said the addition would increase the road and bridge fund total to $826,000.
The jury plans to seek matching grant funding that would go toward road improvement projects.
