VILLE PLATTE -- Visitors are invited to Chicot State Park in Ville Platte on Saturday, March 2, at 9:00 a.m. to noon, to learn about Dutch oven cooking.
Bill Ryan from the Louisiana Dutch Oven Society will have a Dutch oven gathering (DOG) in Chicot State Park Pavilion 1, to demonstrate the early pioneer cooking technique. Participants will be able to sample the food and learn first hand how to use these outdoor black pots to cook a full meal. "This program will help familiarize visitors with the culture of the area" Kim Hollier, site naturalist.
